On Friday evening Jayme sent Abby and I off to the Jags preseason game. It was great to see the stadium again and even better to spend some time with my sister. I still cannot believe she's back for good! I keep thinking "oh only a few more days until she's gone again" but really she will just be a couple of hours away! Woohoo!
| Really big scoreboard! |
| It started raining during hte 3rd quarter. We hung in there for awhile but soon retreated to the inside of our level! |
On Saturday and Sunday Jayme had some really cute "helpers" who assisted in hanging an arrangement on the wall in the big hallway and also helping to plant some flowers outside. We got rid of some unruly rose bushes and replaced them with simpler, colorful plants. Asher says "I need my wadder. I need to bam bam!" Way to go honey! Thanks!
I got this Daddy
Please pray for wisdom for me concerning the kids. It's nothing earth shattering, but I am struggling a bit with Asher's sleep again. I have always been very confident in what is best for him, and have been right almost all the time with him in the past, but we're up against a doozy currently. He seems to be migrating away from naps. In my head, a 2 year old (though he is almost 3) should still be napping daily, but if he naps he doesn't go down until about 2pm (a few weeks ago he was asleep within a few minutes at about 1245pm) and is up until 9:30/10pm and it's very challenging to get him down at bedtime. If he doesn't nap he is cranky from about 4pm on, but goes to sleep within minutes (we're talking like almost immediately at 7pm). Ideally I'd not nap him and then put him down super early (at about 630pm) during the course of this transition, but then he's not getting to see Jayme at night. The other side of it is he gets up once or twice a night to go potty (yay he's waking up dry in the morning), but if the second time is after 5ish he doesn't go back to sleep. This morning is a perfect example of that- 5am he's up and though he did lay still for a bit and we got some more rest, he was up for the day. All the research I have read (and agree with just in general) says kids his age need 12-14 hours of sleep a day. He's getting about 10 right now, even though he's generally always gotten 14 (2-3 at nap, 11-12 at night). This leads to less than desirable behavior and the last two evenings massive meltdowns. Not ideal for us or him. I keep reading all this stuff about how their brains grow so much the first few years and how important sleep is for that to happen.
Also continue to pray for Hannah's healing. We had her follow up appointment on Monday and learned I hadn't been doing the exercise right for her tongue tie release. Dr. Myers essentially ripped off the Band-Aid so to speak and re-opened the wound on the bottom- it was resealing. I felt like a failure- our kiddo was screaming and I felt like we were back to square one because of my inadequacy. Thankfully Dr. Myers said I hadn't done any permanent damage, he just went over the exercise again and I got it this time (I think). I took her back again on Wednesday morning and he said it looks good, so prayerfully I am doing it right this time. Hannah gets really upset when I lay her down, and shakes her head no when I try to do the bottom exercise. She has taken to biting and turning her head so I can't get to it. Not fun. It hurts this mama's heart. I kind of feel tense all day because I know I have to do this 4 times daily. That sounds dramatic I know but it's sad. Hopefully only another week of them and we can back off to just once a day.
Ok enough complaining! Sorry...here's some pics from the last few days. Thanks for reading and happy Friday to all tomorrow.
