Good Dough

Move over Krispy Kreme!  There's a new donut shop in town!  We had the pleasure of going to check out the newest artisan donut shop in Jax with Abby a couple of weeks ago.  It's a bit of a hike (in my world), almost all the way downtown in a cute area called San Marco.  It was raining, but what's new?  Off we went in search of a donut that would beat out Krispy Kreme.
I am happy to say that Krispy Kreme still reigns supreme, in my opinion.  It's a good thing, otherwise I'd be making 25 minute drives for a donut, instead of 10.  Haha, just kidding, kinda.  Good Dough is what I like to describe as hippy dippy.  The employees were super sweet, loved the kids and had fun interacting with them.  They have two huge windows where you can watch them making the fancy donuts.  And I enjoyed the original glazed version.  However, they are a bit chewier than I like (though super fresh), and the topping options are just a little beyond my plain Jane tastes.  Things like brown butter, blackberrry thyme (which Abby described as a mix of blackberry and grass hahahaha), Cardamom Sugar, Macha (which is apparently a green tea flavor), etc.  Very sophisticated!
They did make an effort to be kid friendly, which some of those types of restaurants aren't ( I have walked into a coffee shop before with the kids and people just stare at me like I'm rude and interrupting their zen moments on their Mac computers), and they even had a play kitchen.  Asher and Hannah only took about 3 bites of donut, as they were too busy playing.
I'm glad we went and supported a new local business, and I hope they continue to be successful!  It was a fun morning out and great to spend time with Abby!  And we had fun taking pics of the fancy donuts :).
