Alpha Chi Weekend

The Friday after Father's Day was the big day of departure for me.  I went on a trip to Satellite Beach, FL with 6 girl friends/sorority sisters from Stetson.  My old roomie Amy and I were the planners of the trip, and I think we ended up doing a pretty good job!  I just had to get myself out the door, and then I could enjoy it...
Grama W. arrived at about 10am, and I quickly gave her the update on how to put Hope down for her nap, lunch etc. and prepared to leave.  A huge thank you to her for putting her life on hold and coming up to help Jayme take amazing care of the kids so I could go away.  Thank you thank you thank you!
What I did NOT expect is my sweet boy Asher to completely flip out about me leaving.  Plain and simple, he lost it.  It was one of my saddest moments as a mom!  He was hysterical, crying and asking me why I had to leave, couldn't I just go to my doctor appointment and come back home, could he go with me etc.  I had to literally shove him into the house and hold the door shut while he frantically tried to open it from the other side.  I made a run for it, and he somehow got through the child locked deadbolt and came screaming out into the garage while I backed out of the driveway.  I had to repeat the same process all over again.  Poor Grama  was holding a teary Hope, and neither one of us was strong enough to hold Asher back.  I had to threaten him to be able to leave, not what I wanted to do as I was leaving for the weekend.  It was terrible.  He requested a picture of he and I through his tears, and I obliged.  I texted it to Grama, and he settled down a few minutes after I left, though kept asking to see our picture.  I emailed Jayme a better pic and asked him to print it.  I was told Asher slept with it every night I was gone.

Of course Grama handled everything beautifully, and I was able to shake off the leaving situation and have some fun.  It felt weird to not be with my kids, but also a bit freeing!
I SLEPT IN UNTIL 9 THE FIRST MORNING!!  It was GLORIOUS.  I think that's what I miss most - sleep!!  I love to sleep :).
The girls and I had some new experiences, among lots of talking, catching up and bonding.  We tried Ariel Yoga, kayaking, an escape room, had some beach time, and took a lot of pictures!  Though I don't keep in touch with these ladies daily, or even weekly, we update each other on big life events, ask for prayers and celebrate wins together.  17 years of friendship is nothing to sneeze at!  It was a great weekend, just the perfect amount of time away, and then I was ready to get back to my babies!!

Arrival Afternoon

Ariel Yoga!  Quite the experience!  We left proud of ourselves, and some of us had "Ariel headaches" apparently it's a real thing that exists! aka we gettin' old hahaha.  The instructor was great, very relaxed and helpful.  It was not a stuck up yoga class, though we did laugh pretty hard when she said "Whatever you do, don't follow the people in the front of the room."

Elite gymnast Amy showing off :)

Me, not so much hahaha

Beach time after lunch!  The water was much prettier than expected!

Rachael and I trying out the portrait mode on the newer iPhone (Amy's)

Amy once again shone as our smartie when she helped us all get through the escape room.  We did not escape in time, but it was fun trying.

Sunday morning brought our kayak tour, which was a perfect activity for us.  Our guide would patiently wait for us to stop talking to give us some more facts about what we were seeing, and let us set the pace!

 Walking around downtown Cocoa Village

Our final evening brought a delicious dinner at The Fat Snook.  It was so yummy and many laughs and stories were told and retold!

Thanks again to Grama for all the updates and for loving on the kids just like I would and for being such an awesome help to Jayme!
