Pure Joy

Today was really fun.  Not only did we get to have Daddy home with us all day, but we had fun hanging out as a family and then this afternoon we went to a friend's house for a pool party.  As soon as we went out on their back patio Asher said "in there" and pointed to the pool.  It took all we had to keep him out of it until we were ready to go in with him (Jayme first then me later).  He had a BLAST playing on the huge first step along with some other kiddos his own age.  I don't know how to describe it except this was like heaven in his little mind!  He continually flopped down on his tush and would just smile.  He'd walk on his hands around the step, and also liked to play with the water table they had on the top step.  Jayme would take him out and let him play with the other toys around the pool.
After about an hour I got in with him and he watched the big kids (3 and 5 year olds) jump from the elevated part of the pool- two steps up.  He kept saying "wow-wee" when they'd jump.  Hard to describe but he wanted to do the same thing- no fear, and mind you cannot swim yet!  So I'd hold his hand as he walked around the edge of the pool and let him go up one of the steps.  He'd stop, turn towards me and the pool and say "juh, juh" (jump) and then step off the edge into my arms.  I cannot tell you how many times we did this over and over again.  He was so happy, and it was so fun to see him just truly enjoying himself. The innocence of a 20 month old little boy.  He had none of his usual trepidation that he usually has in new situations- just simple good ol' fun- pure joy on his little face.
Hannah was a perfect little miss and was either held by Jayme or I.  She also took about a 40 minute nap in her Zippy sitting in the car seat.
We left in time to bathe and put Asher to bed by 8pm.  Cutie Pie is still awake in his crib despite swimming his little heart out for about 2 hours- probably due to the very loud fireworks around us!  Such a fun day.
