So in the Bubble Guppies Look and Find book there is a page with musical instruments. The Guppies are "rockin." One of the things he has to look for is a guitar. While in music class Thursday Asher went over the the teacher's guitar and said "tar, tar" and started strumming the strings. So he was able to transfer the guitar from the book to real life!
Another cute moment was when we were playing in his room one morning (also Thursday I think) and he walks by Hannah, suddenly stops, points to her, looks over and says "sister!" It was really cute- we talk all the time about her being his sister and he has repeated the word before but it's like he had light bulb moment.
I also let him draw with chalk on the chalkboard wall for the first time this week. He knows that drawing makes a picture, so as he was drawing he kept repeating "pic-shure, pic-shure." He also knows we only draw on paper, so he kept saying "pay-peh." Notice in the pictures he uses his left AND right hands to draw!
Tuesday morning was a highlight of our week when Dawn came over to play. She very sweetly brought Asher a Bubble Guppies tent (she knows this boy well) and they had a blast playing with it. He likes to play peek-a-boo through the tent (which is a little bit see through). Hannah hung out and got some lovin' too. She was cool with us putting "shades" on her for some pictures.
On Wednesday when Asher woke up from his nap he requested "buh buh" in his crib. For 30 minutes I handed him books and he sat in his crib and read them! Every time I handed him a book he said "than dthu." Such a sweet little guy. One of his current favorites is Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? He knows it well. We were on the red bird page, which has just a picture of a red bird. The next page has a yellow duck. While on the red bird page he puts his arms out to the sides and says "yewwo?" He was asking where the yellow duck was! I thought it was pretty smart!
Last night I went out with 6 girls to celebrate Vera's birthday. We went to TacoLu, a Jax favorite. Dawn and I kept each other's kids while we each went and got our hair blown out for the evening. I had to take some pics to document looking good for once! Haha! Jayme did a great job at home dealing with a little boy who had a VERY hard time going to bed. Another "phase." This too shall eventually pass! Good job babe!
In other news, Hannah Banana is giving this mommy a run for her money! She is still sleeping unswaddled, which is great, but with her newfound freedom she has taken to rolling over onto her belly and sleeping face down. Totally flat against the mattress, which is so stressful! My rational side tells me she will come up for air when she needs it, but my mommy side is very nervous. For the last 10 days I have gotten very little sleep. I have been sleeping in her room, waking up several times an hour to be sure she is not on her face. You read so many awful horrible stories that it's impossible to just be totally rational and think "well, she'll move when her brain tells her she's not getting enough air." So we have been trying to teach her to turn her head when she rolls onto her belly, but she really resists. It's getting a tiny bit easier now, after doing this for the last almost two weeks. She cannot yet roll from her belly to back, so we are working on that during the day. On Wednesday night at 4:30am after going through her flipping over, face planting, trying to turn her head which wakes her up and makes her mad, watching her sleep face down, and repeating this cycle for about 2 hours I thought "why am I not using the swing??" So I brought the swing into her room and got a few consecutive hours of sleep. Since then we have been putting her down for naps in her crib and watching the monitor closely, and also putting her in her crib until we go to bed at night. Then she goes in her swing. I think no sleep is why I got the migraine. It's now gone and she is getting up 3 times a night instead of what felt like 1000.
When I say she sleeps on her face, I am not exaggerating.
I know many of you pray for us daily. If you have a few extra seconds, pray this silly goose learns to turn her head VERY soon, and also learns to roll from belly to back soon too!! Thank you!
Other than this, she is doing well. She's pretty happy and smiley, and is filling out! Her little face is now pretty round, which I attribute to the 8 bajillion feedings a night she was getting to calm her down after all the rolling she was doing!
Thanks for reading and I hope everyone is having a great weekend!! :)
