Heart is Full

It is really quite late, and I have so much blogging to do about the last two weeks, but I just had to share our day.  It was very simple, but very good!  Lots of smiles, giggles and quality time together for the kids and I.  God smiled on me, because early this morning we had to say good bye to Abby as she returns to China (she is still traveling- say a prayer!), which was quite difficult.  I really thought it wouldn't be as hard this time.  I am less nervous about her safety than I was at this point last year, because she has successfully made it through one year, but we will miss her terribly until she comes to visit us again in January!  We had such an amazing visit with her, and I will fill you all in on that soon!  But for now back to the littles!

After saying goodbye and returning home at about 745am, I decided we should go for a walk and play outside for a bit before it got too hot!  So off we went, looking at and talking to all of Asher's favorite statues around the neighborhood that he now likes to hear bedtime stories about.  Thus far we like the "pretend chiten, pretend doggie, pretend cranes, and pretend big, green ALLIGATOR!" That is how Asher describes them.  It's really pretty cute, and was a successful walk with Pito and the kids.
After our walk we came home and played in the backyard with the water and sand tables, as well as the bubble machine given to us by Dad and Rhonda.  Lots of bubbles and fun were made!  It was nice to have a "normal" morning, with nothing in particular to do other than just enjoy each other.

Asher played with the chalk a lot, as you can see!

When we got tired of the heat we came inside and played in the play room.  Asher is getting good at puzzles, and since he is really into Paw Patrol on TV right now, he eagerly went to work on this puzzle not once, but twice today.  I don't think he could do it on his own yet, but he is getting good at looking for the matching colors or other parts of bodies/animals as he goes along.  He tells me "it says 'all paws on deck!' and likes to sing the theme song of the show while dancing around the house.  He often says "Chase is on the case!"  Chase is the police dog, and is on one of Asher's favorite pairs of undies!  We also have a Chase stuffed animal- here's a pic of them together yesterday...

After naps we took a trip to Bay & Bee.  It's been a really long time (almost a month I think) since we went.  I wanted to be sure Asher was reliably potty trained before we braved it there, because they do tell you that during potty training kids have to wear pull ups or diapers, which we wouldn't be doing!
Hannah immediately wanted the dinosaur costume put on (a first) and she happily wore it around for 30 minutes before I took it off of her because she kept tripping over it!  Asher wasn't too sure about it (it is a costume after all, even if it is his sister), but surprisingly, later asked to put it on too!  I had taken the head piece off of her and put it back into the bin, but Hannah saw me putting the main part on Asher, walked out of the room, found the head piece and brought it back to me all the way on the other side of the play space!  She is really something, and I can't wait to write her 18 month post in a few days.

After dinner and before Hannah's bath, Hannah was playing in the blinds of the sliding glass door, a big no no in our house.  Asher walked over to her and started saying "No Hannah you have to get out of there!  Stop playing in them!"  I thanked him for his help and told him I would take care of Hannah.  He told me he would take care of her, and proceeded to hug her, then tackled her!  She got annoyed and actually hit him, but he didn't react to her.  I scolded her and told her she had to be nice to which she responded by giving Asher a really big hug.  I so wish I had my camera to capture the sweet moment, but instead just enjoyed watching them love on each other.  Asher kept going with the helping theme and told me he wanted to help bathe Hannah.  He helped me shampoo her hair, and put on her lotion and powder after the bath!  Such sweet kids we are blessed with.  When we did his puzzle the first time, he had it down on the floor, and Hannah kept taking pieces.  Asher was really good about not grabbing things back from her, instead saying "Don't take her eyeball! Sky is fine..." Hannah had taken the piece that was the face of one of the dogs.
The evening was topped off by a successful bathroom trip for Asher.  He has had some difficulty not with peeing, but the "other" thing.  I won't go into too much detail, but the poor kid usually gets stressed out about going, and denies he has to go, but literally running while holding his underpants...Tonight I heard him say "When you have to go potty, stop and go right away" from the other room (thank you Daniel Tiger).  I yelled "Asher do you have to go?"  at about the same time he came flying in saying "yes I have to go!" We raced to the bathroom and he went very easily.  Usually he gets on and off the potty about 6 times before he actually goes, but this time he only needed one trip, thankfully.  We have switched his reward to M&M's or jelly beans, which has been working well for a few days now!  Here's to hoping it continues that easily!
Thanks for reading about this mama's blessings.  My cup runneth over :).
