Zoo Fun

This morning we met up at the zoo with my friend Tammy and her two kiddos.  We tried to get there when they opened at 9, but it ended up being more like 920am for us!  Regardless it was nice because it was fairly quiet, and we got to see all of the kid's favorite animals.  Asher even happily fed the giraffes!  The highlight was seeing one of the jaguars swimming in his pool!  I figured they would get in to take a quick dip every now and then, but he fully got in, submerged and swam awhile that way!  It was really neat!  We were ready to go around 11am but then all the kids really wanted to ride the "choo choo train."  We gave in and bought our tickets, only to be told the train was full and we would have to wait 30 minutes.  Um no!  Not with 3 toddlers ready for lunch/naps!  So we hauled it around to the other side of the zoo to catch it at the next stop at 1115am.  Kind of counter productive but it gave the kids the ride the wanted and us some shade!
We haven't been in a couple of months, and the kids have matured some since then (I think).  Asher hopped in and out of the stroller easily and listened very well to me.  Hannah was out quite a bit as well, and was happy to follow along (generally) without me having to chase her at all.  It was a nice change, and I can see the future does get a bit easier, logistics wise!  Asher is becoming more social as well, not hanging back with me when in a new situation.  He will greet the other kids and talk to them easily.  Today he was encouraging Gwyn when she lagged behind "Come on Gwyn, let's go!"  He told us "I've got her!"  Last night at a friend's bday party he wanted to play with the big kids (who didn't always want to play with him which made us a bit sad).  When he couldn't find them he came to us and said "Where's my friends?"  Sweet boy of ours!
It was a great morning!
