Appreciating the Simple Things/Catchup

Side Note: This was written on Thursday evening, before Friday, which was an extremely challenging day!  Goes to show you to really appreciate the good days and just try to survive the bad ones!!! :)

Yesterday and today have been particularly good days with the kids.  Not sure why, but things have just been running smoothly!  As I was loading them into the car yesterday after our Target trip, I started thinking about how they are growing up, and while this does make me sad, I'm also grateful for a few simple things.  So I made a list!
1. They think it's fun to be loaded into the car through the trunk space (our 3rd row is always down), and then happily go crawl into their car seats and wait for me to buckle them in after I load the groceries.  Sometimes they like to help me buckle the top buckle of their harnesses too!
2. When we get back home, they both take their own shoes off, put them on the shoe table (most of the time haha), and then Asher helps Hannah wash her hands!  Winning!
3. Asher can to potty by himself, including flushing and washing (he sings the Daniel Tiger song "When you have to go potty, stop and go right away...flush and wash and be on your way!").
4. We can now make it to more than one store on our trips out of the house without too much trouble.  It used to be that we could only go to Target OR Publix OR the post office....sounds dumb but we can now do multiple stores at a time!  Huge win for this mama!
5. Asher also knows how to open the child lock on the pantry doors and closets (not the front door though thankfully), which means he can get his own snacks out!  However, he can't open them haha so he still has to bring them to me to be opened!  This will be a good thing when I am nursing a baby all the time and can't get off the couch easily.

The kids are both very interested in their new sibling!  The other night I was putting Hannah to bed and she started patting my belly, and asking "Hold baby? Baby bottle?  Rock baby?" I told her yes she could hold the new baby, and rock the baby and feed the baby a bottle.  She wrapped her arms around my belly and tried to pick the baby up to rock him/her.  For obvious reasons she grunted, then said "Too big!"  I laughed so hard.  She is really funny.
Asher likes to "See our baby" so I pull my shirt up to show the belly, and he covers it with his Zippy, saying "Now he's warm and comfy."  I told them today they won't be able to see the baby for a long time, but they can talk/sing to him/her as much as they want.  I asked them what they'd teach the baby, and Asher replied "To eat!"  I asked what they want him to eat and Asher said "bunny snacks!"  which are fruit snacks they love.  Also, they want to teach Lovebug to swim.  Love these little guys!

I'm going to post some videos for my next post, but we have spent the last couple of weeks hanging at home and going to the kids' refresher swim lessons.  They both had 8 lessons and have been set free for the time being!  Today's lesson was canceled because of issues with the pool and Asher was very disappointed!  "Awww but I love my swimming lessons" he said.  We have a few lessons on reserve in case any problems crop up over the summer, but for now, we wait for the weather to get warmer so the pool can be warm!  We are proud of the kiddos and are excited for a lot of water time this summer.

Here's a few pictures of what we've been up to since the last post:

This morning Hannah and I met with Dawn for some yummy donuts at Krispy Kreme!  As soon as we walked in Hannah got very excited at all the delicious choices, but immediately went to the one with sprinkles and said "Spinkles!"  Despite there being a donut with pink icing, she chose the one with chocolate :).  It was great to catch up with Dawn!

Jayme does a 7 minute exercise routine, and the kids like to help him.  Well yesterday they decided to do it on their own!  "Sit on my feet Hannah!"  Asher said, so she did!  Then she stood up and said "Run pace, run pace" aka run in place, run in place.  Later yesterday Asher said "now we have to do hineys."  aka high knees.  I laughed really hard and tried to explain to him that it was high knees, but he insisted "it's also called hineys, Mommy!"  We are blessed!

Last week we tried out a new hair salon in the Avenues Mall, which is SO much closer than our usual kid haircut place!  They have 3 kid chairs, complete with movies to watch.  Asher LOVED the Batman car that made lots of fun sounds, and Hannah sat in the Frozen car.  I told the stylist I wanted it short but only cut with scissors.  She listened perfectly, and now we can see his face again!
We celebrated with a ride on the train before heading to swim lessons!

The before pic:)

And finally. here's a few random pictures:

Hannah is VERY into puzzles right now!  She loves these 12 piece ones, as well as 24 piece Paw Patrol puzzles

Big smile at First Watch after completing some puzzles

In the new OB office (same practice, new office)- we had an appt on Tuesday, and everything looks great with Lovebug!  My weight gain is right on track, blood pressure great, and we heard the heartbeat- 145:).

"Look Mommy, we're working as a team!"

This little girl is SUPER sensitive these days!  Yesterday she was refusing to eat her healthy part of her breakfast before I'd let her have half a donut.  Earlier in the morning she lost it because Jayme wouldn't let her touch the contents of her dirty diaper!  Everything sets her off!  She's a spunky one. :)  Her language skills are coming right along too.  I took her to Bay n Bee on Thursday and she was standing on top of a slide stomping her feet.  I said "Hannah, why do you need to make so much noise?"  She replied "Cause I like-a noise!"  Goober!
