Zoo Day

So last Tuesday (the 21st), Jayme was away on a quick two day business trip to Canada.  He rarely has to travel, we are so lucky that way!  The kids decided they wanted to give him a proper send off, and did that by waking up for the day at 4:30am (Hannah) and 515am (Asher).  How nice for all of us!
I knew we would all miss him (Mommy especially), so I decided to keep us busy by going to the zoo! We packed a picnic lunch and off we went.  The Lego exhibits that I have mentioned before are still going on, in addition to the manatee rescue facility being complete, AND it was a gorgeous day!  Nice breeze, not too hot!
Asher was SO excited to see where the manatees would be, and peppered me with questions the whole time.  "Mommy, are there any manatees there today?"  No buddy, not yet, one has to be hurt to come here, so we really don't want to see any.  "Mommy, where is it?  Can we see it yet?"  I used to be OBSESSED with manatees when I was a kid, so it's kinda fun to see him get excited about them too!
Despite being up at 430am, Hannah did a lot of walking, a bit stubbornly so!  She has become a bit challenging since her paci was taken away, and I can understand.  She doesn't sleep as well, and is often up early (though not usually at 430am).  This too shall pass, I keep reminding myself.  She WILL adjust and go back to sleeping well.
Anyhoo, we enjoyed the day a lot- stopped for lunch when we needed to, and because Hannah isn't napping anymore, we didn't have to rush home.  We enjoyed the zoo until about 130pm, and then went home!  Poor Hannah still had a cough, and had a huge coughing fit on the way home (she also literally fell asleep while eating a granola bar, or as she says, a gamola bar).  I called the nurse when we got home and she said it was most likely viral, and there wasn't anything they could really do.  I was told some more "old school" advice, like give her chicken noodle soup, warm liquids, run the humidifier, take her in a steamy bathroom, etc. and it worked well!  Within a day or two her cough was much more loose and productive :).  The other day when I put Hannah to bed we said prayers.  I do most of the praying, but at the end she wants to add something too.  She said "and sank you that my cos (cough) is gone!"  Sweet girl.
In addition to the older two kids being up so early, Hope was up super late, from about 1130-130am...I drank a lot of coffee that morning!

Traditional train pic

Hope was like this for most of the train ride- it was kinda funny!

Being silly

 Lunch fun

Asher was his cautious self on the merry go round the first time, then he wanted on the cheetah for the second go around. :)

She kept saying "ahhh he's eatin me!"

New black bear in the FL area- her name is Betsy, and someone tried to keep her as a pet?!!!  By the time the authorities got involved she was too tame to be put back in the wild, so now the Jax zoo has her!

Peeking at the manatee facility.  There is a sliding door that will be open when there is a manatee to view. Until then this is what we can see!  The kids were very disappointed, and I was too!

Poor kid!  Notice the drool on her dress- she was OUT

FaceTime with Daddy before bed- he was showing Asher his Canadian money.

Spiky hair after her bath!
