Well, I am totally dropping behind in my blogging! This week has been crazy with all the Irma drama, and Hope has been up a lot in the evening/night, which is when I usually do the blog! And the weird thing is we didn't even do an insane amount of prep for Irma, other than grocery shop and put up shutters. For some reason it has just taken over life right now. AND in addition, both big kids have ear infections-ugh!
ANYWAYS! Mid August was spent hanging out with Aunt Abby as her impending move to Kuwait drew nearer. We got to spend a lot of time with her, running errands with her during her last few car-less days here, she and I went to a concert and to dinner, and she spent some time with the kids as well. We sure miss her lots. Up until now it's been feeling like she's gone on a long vacation, but now it feels real! I was a bit angry at her for moving, as I had prayed hard when she came back from China that she would end up in Jax. I got my wish, and then she was up and leaving us! She eventually said "This is me Nicki, you gotta love me anyways." She is right, and I do, so I worked on accepting her decisions, however crazy they seem to me, and have been more at peace with it all! It was a little bit like what I imagine saying goodbye to my kids when they go to college will be like, except I'm pretty sure we won't be allowing them to go 7,000 plus miles around the world, if they want us to be writing the checks hahaha....:)
We will enjoy seeing Abby at Andrew's wedding next month, and will count down the days until she comes for a visit next summer. She seems to be enjoying her job and experiencing another culture, though she says she wishes time travel was a real thing :). Us too! Here's some pictures of her last couple of weeks with us!
Abby, Hannah and I caught a somewhat cloudy but still pretty sunrise the weekend before Abby departed!
Being silly at the Town Center the day before she left.
Our last night out- we went to the sushi joint down the street and then to a movie.
Her going away present:)
Goodbye's at the Jacksonville airport
There she goes......
