Last Weekend- Nutcracker and Chilly Weather

This past weekend was a good one!  Saturday morning was kinda lazy- Jayme was working on a project, and after Chickfila breakfast I leisurely got Hannah and myself ready for a Mommy/Hannah date.  I took her to see the Nutcracker in downtown Jax, at the historic Florida Theater!  It was a community production, but was still quite professional!  Anyone can audition, and I believe they had more kids in it than a "professional" production, but that was great, as I imagine they did it to give more kids an experience you can't get most places.
Hannah was excited, as she is taking dance at school this year, for the first time.  She is always asking me to put her hair in a bun, and often changes into her leotard that she does dance in at school.  She was taken with the girls dancing en pointe, and it was fun to tell her that for a short while, her mommy did that too!  She loved the costumes that were true tutus, and also really enjoyed that I let her pick out a snack- she immediately pointed to the Cheetos. :P  That's my girl!
It was fun- I tried to soak up every moment.  She enjoyed the attention, and chatted nonstop the whole way there.  She asked for a doll, which turned out to be a nutcracker, and wanted to get Asher one too.  When we arrived home, she burst through the door with "Asher!!! Asher!!  We got you a nutcracker!!"  I had to explain to him today that it wasn't really a true nutcracker, and am thankful I caught him before he tried to crack an acorn!  :)
Hannah did get tired out from the excitement and fell asleep at the very end of the first act, for about 20 minutes.  It powered her through, though, and she watched the second half pretty intently.
Oh, when we arrived the lobby was filled with kids dressed as toy soldiers, and they took their roles very seriously- they didn't move much or speak.  They guarded Santa and Mrs. Claus as well.  I asked Hannah if she wanted to meet Santa, and she shyly said yes.  She was nervous, and made sure I was coming too.  Then she sat in his lap and told him she wanted a doll!
It was a good experience, and I was glad for the time with just her!

When I returned home, Asher needed to get out of the house, so I took the kiddos on a walk, and Jayme had a few minutes to himself!!  It was really coldfor Florida- in the 40's, so we had to take about 30 minutes to prep, find jackets/hats/gloves, argue about wearing said jackets/hats/gloves, and let them feel the cold before they willingly put everything on.  Kids... but it made for some cute pictures, as they don't get to dress like this very often! As you can see, Hope really wasn't a fan of bulky jackets.  Asher doesn't like them either!  Our little Floridians....
