SOARING EAGLE!

At the end of each 9 week period at Chet's Creek, there are awards ceremonies.  In Kindergarten parents are invited to their child's classroom for the ceremony.  Each child is called up and the teacher's say something about each kid, and that they are proud of them for their hard work.  It's neat to see every kid recognized for something, even if they aren't the "best" student.
Hannah and I represented the family during Asher's awards.

After everyone had their time in the spotlight, the teachers said they had one more award to give out.  There was one boy and one girl chosen from the class to receive the Soaring Eagle award.  This award goes to kids who embody the Chets principles.  Everyday when they are in circle time they say the CHETS acronym.  They strive to be:
Courteous
Helpful
Engaged
Trustworthy
Safe
Even when no one is watching.
This award is a BIG deal at the school.  I remember when Dawn's kid got it and how awesome it was for them!
For some reason I decided to video it, and I'm so happy I did!  Asher was chosen as the boy in his class that embodies these ideals.  We are so proud of him!  He got an award as well as a pin.  He was SO excited about the pin, jumping up and down asking "Mommy, is it real gold, is it real gold?"  It was so cute.  We are so thankful for awesome teachers and for a kid who really wants to always do the right thing and tries really hard.  He even tries not to go to the bathroom during the day "Mommy we can only go when it's not circle time, and I have so much work to do, I can't go."  Cracks me up, he takes the rules VERY seriously!  Love him and are so proud of him!

I had a meeting earlier in the day about the big kindergarten event called Pow Wow.  While I was there I got a sneak peek at some of his writing he was working on:

They had a writing show and tell...it says "My show and tell is Ted Ted."  Ted Ted is his current favorite stuffed animal.

"Ted Ted likes his stuffed animal." I love how they write what they hear at this point.  It's so fun.

Asher has watched one too many You Tube Kids videos of other kids reviewing toys and/or putting Lego sets together.  He now tries to emulate them!  Take a look at him reading  a book:
Love our little guy and are proud of him!
