Life with Two

As I write this I am overwhelmed with happiness- not to say I don't have my rough days since being responsible for two little ones (just this past week I placed an emotional text to Jayme asking him to come home for lunch because both kids were in meltdown mode, and I was a sleep deprived crying mommy- he obliged very quickly :)), but overall things are going well, and we are so blessed to have two happy healthy little people in our care.
I first would like to say that if you are going to have two children so close in age you need one of these:

AN AMAZING HUBBY!

I would not be a sane mommy without him!  He lets me sleep on the weekends while he mans the monitor/babies and is so very helpful.  I would be lost without my best friend!  He took on full Asher care when Hannah was born, since I needed to tend to her needs and he can't do that whole nursing thing.  He would get up with Asher, dress him, feed him breakfast and play with him until I got myself going in the morning.  We were lucky enough to have him with us for a week after Hannah was born!  He would (and still does) take Asher on bike rides and on errands so Asher can get out of the house.  He makes me lunches on the weekends and always asks if I need anything, and is happy to get it for me if I do.  Jayme has taken on more than his fair share of the household chores, and for this I am so grateful!  I could not focus on just our kids during the day if he wasn't so amazing!  I am mostly back on my feet now, but he continues to be a great listener to my emotions (and likes to say "tell me how you feel" and  "you're not alone" which is something all the baby books tell daddy's to say when advising them to pay attention to a mommy postpartum).  I am so delighted to have him as my partner!  Most importantly, he loves our kiddos to pieces.  I have mentioned before how much of a hands on daddy he is, but I will say it again- he is hands on!

Having two is so fun.  Asher is our busy bee, and is always on the go, exploring and finding mischief on the way.  Hannah is what I would call an "easy" baby thus far.  She generally just gets up twice a night and eats 'meals', as opposed to snacking all day.  She takes a pacifier, which is a blessing, because it comforts her when I have to let her hang out while feeding Asher or putting him down for his nap.  I know I'll eventually have to break her of that habit but for now it's a good thing!

I have to admit, I was worried before Hannah was born.  I was worried that I wouldn't love her as much as I love Asher.  I so love my "momma's boy" to pieces and was concerned things would change between us!  I was afraid he would be mad at me for having another baby in the house.  It's amazing how God just lets your heart open up bigger.  I feel like Hannah has been here forever, despite her just being one month old.  She just fit right in, and thankfully Asher seems too young to really be jealous.  It's really only difficult when they both need me at the same time.  I try to just stay calm and help the one with the more immediate need first.  One of them usually fusses/cries for a few minutes, but it all works out.  I by no means have everything figured out, but have generally been able to remain calm and that seems to help too!

Happily, Asher still likes me!  On the mornings I mentioned where Jayme so sweetly gets up with him he sometimes comes and bangs on our door saying "Mommy, Mommy" and runs over and gives me hugs when I do emerge!  He is just as happy to go out with Daddy though, and gives me a kiss and says "Bye!" when they are off on an adventure.  I love seeing my boys together! :)

Life is good.  :)

Changing the subject a little bit...this weekend was a chill one.  Yesterday Asher and Jayme went on a bike ride and to Publix together and Hannah and I went to the mall to get some non maternity clothes for me- yay!
Today we met Grandma and Grandpa Wiggins for breakfast at Cracker Barrel in St. Augustine, which was a nice treat- we hadn't seen them since the day Hannah was born!
After breakfast, it was home for a nap, and Asher slept for three hours!  I got to nap for two of them and Jayme had the unpleasant task of doing our taxes (thanks babe!).  After naptime we wrestled with Asher for awhile (literally) and then went on a walk.  Our sweet neighbor brought us dinner, and now it is bedtime.  A good weekend.  I just wish it was longer. :)

Hannah yesterday- did not like the headband haha

I could just eat these feet up!
