Tuesday was the best day Asher has had at school yet! We are so proud of him! He cried for just a few seconds when I dropped him off, and then when he got into his classroom he stopped immediately, according to Ms. Liz. She said he didn't cry at all during the whole day! They made an edible school bus during their resource time, and Asher ate his whole snack as well. This is something he hasn't done before. Despite waking up at 6:45am that morning I think not having to go to ISR before school really helped. He walked out to greet me just jibber jabbering away, with yellow chalk dust on his face and hands. It was really cute. He seemed happy. I'm excited to get tomorrows good report.
Asher is definitely learning at school. He always likes to play with the broom we have at the house, but yesterday was saying "sweep, sweep, sweep" when he was playing with it, which is something we did not teach him. He also walks around saying "numbers" and today I heard him say "ten, eleven, twelve" - so cool! It doesn't sound perfect but he was definitely saying those numbers! After making his school bus the other day I was talking to him about it and after listening to me he thought for a few seconds then said "wheels?"
He is also remembering things for longer periods of time too. While giving him his milk on Sunday night before bed I was reviewing some things we had done over the weekend. I told him "We went to the beach, and the pool, to a restaurant where we ate chips, and Aunt Barbie came over to play with you too!" He was quiet for about 10 seconds then said "pool....beach....Bobby (aka Barbie)." I thought that was pretty good!
We are also starting to hear two word phrases- woohoo!Today we went to Bay & Bee for awhile. Asher seemed a little less shy than he usually is (maybe due to school?). He would say hi and wave to other kids, and didn't back away when they entered his "space." He happily played near me but would leave me too, to go get the toys he wanted or to go down the slide. He spent a lot of time looking at himeself in the mirror (the first pic) and playing on these foam stairs:
Hannah had fun rolling around on the rug you see in the picture above and sitting playing with toys too. She was her usual happy self this morning (though she turned into a little stinker this afternoon! We are thinking another tooth is coming??).
She is progressing right along as well. She rolls all over the place and this week I have seen her up on her knees a few times....I fear my days of only one child on the move are coming to an end in the next month or so! She is happy most of the time, but is still not sleeping well at night. This is what I expected, since Asher was the same way. This too shall pass...though I do look forward to not feeling like a zombie on a daily basis! Coffee is my new best friend.
I have tried a few more new foods with Hannah- baby cereal yesterday, as well as prunes. Tonight she had carrots again, though she thought it would be fun to blow bubbles during her feeding, so there was orange all over by the time we were done! Silly girl.
This afternoon when we went in to get Asher up from his nap I put Hannah in his crib. She immediately started grabbing everything around her, including books that Asher was looking at. He has been 'labeling' things recently- if a toy his "his" he says "Asher's?" or he will pick up a pacifier and say "Hannah's?" It's really cute, but he gets a little confused because he doesn't understand why she would have one of his toys- he generally hands over her things pretty quickly. So in his crib he kept saying "Asher's?" when she would grab his books. I told him she could have the book too, if he would let her. He thought for a moment, then handed it to her and said "share." I was so proud! Of course he wanted it back about 8 seconds later but for a 22 month old I thought it was good. :)
OMG, LOVE the pebbles and bam bam idea!!! Love the pony on top and that scrunched up smile!!! xoxoxo
