Dacula First!

Thursday (10.15.15) after I picked Asher up from school we grabbed Daddy from work and began our first road trip with both kids.  I was really really dreading the trip, but the kids did well in the car.  They watched a lot of shows on the iPad and DVD player but it was worth it to make for a more peaceful trip.  We met my mom for dinner when we got to Dacula, and there were many tears when we put them back in their car seats for the ride to the hotel.  They did NOT want to be back in them!  Thankfully it was a short ride to the hotel, where they promptly lost their minds and went nuts running around the room and getting into everything they should not be in!  I desperately wanted our baby proofed house where everything and everyone was safe! Ha! We persevered and made it through the two nights at the hotel.  We got to see where Grama H. lives, and also enjoyed a high school football game at my old stomping grounds, Dacula High School.  Man has it changed!  It has grown so much, though the old buildings were still there under all the new stuff.
I also got the opportunity to direct the marching band.  I "conducted" one of the songs from the marching band show that we did my senior year.  The show back then was Earth, Wind and Fire, and the song my band director chose for this year's show was In the Stone.  His current show is made up of his three favorite songs from all the years he taught at Dacula.  It was alumni night, so people from many different years of band were there, and two other drum majors besides myself.  They each directed the song in the current show from when they were in the band.
I was very nervous but once I stepped up onto the podium it all came back and I was able to just enjoy myself and be in the moment.  Definitely a one time deal, and I am so glad we went to it!  Mom and Abby were there along with my family, and we had a lot of fun cheering for the football team.
Asher was apparently taken with my "performance" and told Grama H. "That's my mommy!" and "Isn't it beautiful?" while I was conducting!  Since then he has talked about it several times.  "Mommy did you get on the podium and conduct?  Like this? (he waves his hands)" and "Mommy I'm marching in the band, just like you!"  :)

Poor Hannah is still rear facing so she's not in these pics!

It's time!  Thankfully I didn't trip while crossing the field and even managed to not fall off the ladder while climbing up and down hahaha!
