His group was the Purple Mechanics. The theme this year was Maker Fun Factory- God made you for a purpose. He came home telling us awesome facts: God is always with me. God loves me. God always hears me. He made me for a purpose (Mommy, what's a purpose?). :) His favorite thing every day was getting an addition to the key chain he was given on the first day. Each day had a new little dangle with a Bible verse on the back. It's currently his favorite little thing to carry around.
He was also given a CD, which he obsessively asks to listen to.
It was a very good experience for him, and he did surprisingly well. He was very brave every morning. We'd get to the pew where his class was and he'd turn, look at me and say "I love you have a great day bye bye, did you hear me say all my things?" give me a hug, and with tears welling up in his eyes he'd turn and go into his pew. It broke my heart a little bit everyday, but he never turned around and no tears actually fell, his little voice was just very shaky and he had tears in his eyes. I was so proud of him. When I took him in the second morning I told him I stayed for a few minutes to be sure he was ok- he asked me to do it again. Sweet boy :).
At the end of the day all the parents were allowed in the sanctuary to watch their final music session. Each day the leaders would let a couple of classes up to lead the rest of the kids with the motions. When it was the day for his class he walked right up on stage, and while he didn't smile a lot, he hung in there!!
He was very excited the day they released a ton of beach balls to the crowd, and loved watching them bounce around!
When I'd pick him up he'd say "it was good." He'd tell me about what they did at recreation time, or what snack they gave them for the day, and that would be it! So thankful for a positive first experience with VBS!
Two Videos- one of the morning song time and one of them dancing at home last week!!
