Christmas Day

Christmas Day was a pretty relaxed day!  The kids actually slept in - I think Asher slept until 830!  That was nice :).  We let the kids open up their stocking gifts before we ate breakfast, and then resumed with the gift opening after we ate something.  I made an overnight apple cinnamon crockpot oatmeal that thankfully turned out well!  It was a risk making it for the first time on the big day, but it worked out.  We also had some yummy cinnamon rolls!
The kids were blessed with many gifts, and it took them pretty much all day to open them.  We saved some for after lunch, and their biggest gift from us until the next day.  Granted, they aren't at the tear everything open stage yet, and we did have to put things together "right now" and play for a bit before they moved on to the next thing...Hannah's big gift was her Cabbage Patch doll, and Grama and Papa gave her many accessories to go along with it!  Asher's big gift was his teepee, which now resides in his room, along with the fire truck, which is for both of them, but right now he dominates it!  His favorite gift I think is the little magnetic fishing game- it's really simple!  Just magnetic fish that you catch with the wooden pole.  He "Fishes" daily and talks about going fishing again with Daddy and Papa.
I got a hammock from Jayme which was awesome, because I have wanted one for years!  Dad and Jayme set it up for me that day, and I enjoyed a nap in it the day after Christmas!  Score!
It was great day!  It was wonderful to have Grama and Papa with us, sharing the day together.  After gifts were opened and Hannah took her nap we took a walk around the neighborhood.  It was warm but not too hot!  The big dogs enjoyed getting out as well.
We ate our big meal at dinner time.  Turkey breast (prepared by Publix), mashed sweet potatoes, stuffing, gravy, salad and roasted asparagus were on the menu- yummy!  For dessert we had a delicious cherry cheese pie made by Grama! Great memories on a great day!
