Well, the little stinker was facing the absolute wrong way! None of our kiddos were particularly cooperative during this sonogram, and Lovebug was facing my back, so it was hard to get a good look at certain parts (like her face and heart- details, details)! The tech did a great job, and after some bouncing of the wand and stern talking, she got what she needed. None of the pictures we got from the scan are wonderful, but I'll eventually post a few.
The best part is that everything on Lovebug looks great. Big veins that go to the heart are in the right places, she found the stomach, liver, kidneys and something else important in that area :P. We sawa the two hemispheres of the brain and the 4 chambers of the heart. The tech told us that at birth, a certain spot on the heart completely closes, directing the blood in a different way than it is currently. This allows blood flow around the baby's body to be the full 100%. Right now it's only flowing at about 15% because baby gets what it needs through the umbilical cord. So amazing! No cleft palate, and the nuchal fold/tube looks normal. All amazing things. We had no reason to think/believe otherwise, but it's always great to hear everything looks great and normal. Praise the Lord in Heaven above. A mommy's mind can wander greatly in the weeks and months leading up to this scan!
We saw legs, arms, and counted fingers and toes. Then all of a sudden the tech said "You ready to find out?!" Jayme turned on the iPhone camera and said "yes ma'am!" She started naming the parts of a girl's anatomy and finished with "it's definitely a girl!" She got another look a few minutes later and said "there is no doubt!" So we will be a family of 2 girls and 1 boy! So exciting!! Bring on more pink!
After the scan, I had my 20 week check up, and was told everything looks great. The placenta is rated a 1, which is the best it can be- it's super healthy. The only little snag we ran into was that it's covering the opening to the cervix (sorry to be all technical), which is nothing to worry about at this moment. We have another sonogram scheduled at the end of June to check it, and hope it moves up and out of the way! My midwife said 9 times out of 10 it resolves on it own. Two of my favorite women have had this very thing, and it resolved for both of them. Prayers still appreciated :).
I'll leave you with a few pictures and videos:). Thank the Lord!! :)
