Asher in particular is understanding a bit more about Easter, though he asks so many questions about the details of the crucifixion that I eventually say "buddy that's all you need to know for now!" "Mommy, what did the thieves on the sides of Jesus to to get put on the cross? Why did Jesus have to die? Why don't we just die? " They vary from cute literal questions, on into philosophical ones. Today we were talking about what they had learned in chapel, and I asked the kids what their favorite Bible story was, and Asher said "Jesus dying on the cross." Whoa bud, a bit heavy! :) But good??
So on Easter morning Hannah's temp was 102.6, and we decided it probably wasn't the nicest thing to expose others to her germs, so we just stayed home. We had sweet rolls, eggs and the "normal" stuff for breakfast, then the kids were allowed to see what the Easter bunny had left for them. "Mom, how does he get past the fence? How did he get inside our house? Is the Easter bunny a real bunny, or like the costume that was at school?" Yeesh kid! :) We were so glad Abby was here again to celebrate with us!!! :)
They did the scavenger hunt first, which ended in their bathroom with their Easter baskets, then they did the egg hunt outside. It was a lot of fun, and Hannah seemed to be bouncing back!
I"m sorry for so many pics! This is the scavenger hunt, along with the super long video of it- don't feel obligated to watch the whole thing, but they enjoyed it! Notice we stayed in our jammies- the beautiful dresses/outfits I bought never got worn!!!
Like my new mug from Abby??:)
Here's the egg hunt, along with a couple of videos! Hope did great with her first Easter hunting eggs! She also loves jelly beans. The other day, even while sick, she found an egg with a few jelly beans in it. I let her eat one and then, from across the room told her no more. The put her head down and had this really sad cry, but she listened! I was impressed!!!
The bigs received excavating blocks. Asher's had a gem inside, and Hannah's was a princess gem. They took it very seriously!
He put the Lego set together on Easter, but has been playing with it daily since then!
Hannah's Barbie has a dog that "births" puppies. As the kids don't really understand this process yet, they yelled "Mommy! Daddy! The dog poops puppies!!"
That evening Abby and I got away for some girl time, and we watched Pitch Perfect 3!
