It is really hard to see your normally happy, danc-y, silly kid shaking and breathing fast due to a fever, and there's really very little I could do about it. We are thankful for Motrin, and lavender and peppermint essential oils. Hope has been down for the count for the most part, and early on the Motrin was wearing off after only about 3 hours. I called the doctor on Tuesday night when it reached 103.8 and we still had 3 hours to go. Thankfully, due to her weight they calculated that she could have a much higher dosage, which has helped. Apparently the instructions on the bottle under dose some?! She likes the essential oils, and says "toes, toes" when she sees the bottles. You put the oil on the bottom of her feet just under her toes...
So we have spent a ton of time watching "Elmo, Elmo" aka Sesame Street, and rocking, and eating a TON of yogurt and ice. She has only really eaten rice and beans and a few Chickfila hashbrowns other than yogurt! She hasn't wanted to be put down in her crib, so she hasn't been napping well, (with the exception of yesterday and today thankfully), leading to big time crankiness and up a lot in the middle of the night! I finally laid her on the twin bed in her room two of the nights and slept on the outside of the bed to block her from falling off! I am super thankful for my amazing husband, who took over rocking and trying to transfer her to her crib a couple of the nights when I just could not do it anymore!! Thanks babe!
I decided on Thursday a trip to the doctor was in order, just to be sure there wasn't any ear infection or anything else diagnose-able to find. Thankfully there wasn't and we will just continue waiting it out. They said to come back in a couple of days if she wasn't better. The doctor offered to test for the flu, just in case it was that, but we held off, because there wasn't any real point!
It made my heart so happy yesterday to see her smiling, dancing and laughing. The icing on the cake was when we were snuggled up on the couch before bedtime and she leaned over and kissed Asher on the head, in addition to participating in the family dance party/parade we had!
The big kids were very sweet and helpful while I had my arms full of Hope. I couldn't play games or do much with them, but they did a great job entertaining themselves.
I also have to tell a story that happened at dinner last night (unrelated to Hope being sick, and completely out of the blue). Asher leaned forward and said in a quasi whisper "Mommy, did you know Santa buys some of the toys at the store?" I said "No way, why do you think that?" He said "One of Hannah's toys from Santa this Christmas has a price on it!" Oh good Lordy! I said "well maybe he ran out of toys this year (too many good kids?!!?) and had to grab some from the store. Show me!" They had definitely had a private conversation about this before mentioning it to me, which I love. Asher ran out of the room and came back with the stroller from Santa. Indeed, on the bottom of the stroller, was a UPC code, in all it's glory. CRAP! Thinking as quickly as I could I said, "Do you see a dollar sign?" They did not! "Well buddy I think that just a big number Santa puts on toys to remember who they are suppposed to go to, it's not a price tag. That number is special to Hannah!" They contemplated this for a few seconds and then seemed to accept this theory. How long with they believe, smarties!!!??
Well, say a quick prayer for Hope to return completely to her normal state, and thanks in advance for the prayers! I'm sure it hasn't helped that she can't get in the naps she needs, as being the third kid means you have to be drug around to school dropoffs and pickups and activities! I know there are worse sicknesses and am so thankful they are all normally healthy, it's just hard!
We did go to tball this morning, and it was good! Check out Asher's hit and some giant donuts that came from a local bakery, Cinnotti's, which served as the team's after game snack! Hannah was even offered one. I may have snagged a few bites! Happy weekend to everyone!!! xoxo
Tuesday- Asher often asks if we can take a picture before school- they changed it up a bit this week, then he wanted to take one of Hannah and I :)
Tuesday evening
She fell asleep on Mommy, then was up a couple of hours later, and pretty upset. Petting Diego helped her feel a bit better ha.
We got a bit of a reprieve on Wednesday, and she helped the big kids blow bubbles!
Thursday in the car- this is rare people!
Yesterday Hannah picked the Town Center turtle pond as our activity while we killed an hour of time before we picked Asher up from Spanish class. Pretzels and turtle watching it was. Hope was pretty happy!
It was warm enough for the water table yesterday!
This morning at tball- this cutie needed to wear her fancy dress :) Hopefully it helped her ear feel better, as she was in our bed last night complaining of ear pain! 😕
I love that he's not old enough yet to care about what team mates think! I walked up to video his at bat and he smiled and said "Mommy I love you." 😍
Poor Hope and poor mama. Praying on the mend!!!
