Memories

We are here vacationing in Anna Maria Island for the week.  It's been really nice to be away from the daily grind of things, even if we aren't doing anything fancy.  Yesterday morning we went to a local breakfast place called Anna Maria Island Cafe.  It's an outdoor hole in the wall on the beach that serves all you can eat pancakes-yum!  Two nights ago was a rough night with Asher so we needed some fuel for the day.  (Side note:  Asher has had two decent nights as long as we sleep in the bed with him, so despite us not getting to hang out together, he is sleeping, which is something we were extremely nervous about.  We are napping later and keeping him up later but hey it's vacation!)

After breakfast we headed to the beach, but had two somewhat grumpy kiddos, so we went back to the house to play in the pool.  Asher LOVES the pool, and there's a nice big wide top step that he likes to play on.  I am practicing his swimming skills with him, but it's a bit harder than at home because the pool doesn't have a 'ledge' below the edge of the pool.  He's also tired so he's not swimming as strong as he does during his lessons!  Anyways- Jayme has always said he wishes Asher would be able to sleep between us in the bed so he could snuggle him at night.  Asher is not that kind of kid- as we all know by now he does best in his own crib.  However, here on the island he needs us in order to be comfy- so yesterday he and Daddy took a three hour nap together, and Jayme got his wish to snuggle Asher like a teddy bear!

Last night after dinner we headed to the beach to see the sunset.  It was pretty cloudy so we didn't get  to see the full beauty of it, but we happened to be in the right place at the right time for the excavation of a sea turtle nest!  It was so appropriate too, since one of Asher's first words was turtle.  After a lengthy explanation of what she was going to do (checking to see if all the babies got out, cataloguing how many eggs there were etc.) the volunteer for the turtle organization started "digging."  A few seconds later she pulled out two baby sea turtles!  They were SO cute, and the best part is how excited Asher was- he just kept saying "turtle, turtle" and pointing.  It was a neat moment for us!  Perfect timing too since we were about to head back to the house.

Happy memories for this family!  Xoxo:)
