Sweetness

I was going to make this blog post about our fun day trying out a donut shop and out encounter with 'big bird', as Asher called him, but instead I want to preserve a memory from tonight when I put Asher to bed.  I am so thankful for this vacation. We have had a great time this week growing closer as a family unit.  I am thankful for my husband who works very hard  to provide for us and who puts in 100% taking care of us at home too. 

And I am incredibly thankful for our healthy babies.  Our sweet babies- who knew you could ever love two tiny people so much?  Hannah is such a joy to be around- she attracts attention wherever we go and makes people's days by smiling easily at them. Hannah, who lights up like you are the best thing ever when you come to get her up from her naps.  Hannah, who even as I type this is still rolling around in her Pack n Play talking at midnight.  Our little love bug who laughs for no reason at all!  Silly  sweet, precious girl.

Then there's Asher- our fun, water-loving, innocent boy.  Asher, who giggles immediately when you pretend to sneeze.  Asher, who, as I put him to bed tonight, couldn't get close enough to me to satisfy his snuggling wants.  As soon as that little arm wrapped itself around my neck and pulled me in so our cheeks were sticking together I knew I was a goner!  I was happy to contort myself into whatever position necessary so he could get as close as he wanted.  He looked at me with his little arm curled around my neck and said 'duck' which is his version of 'stuck.'  Over and over he rewraps his arm and laughingly says 'duck' like he literally cannot peel himself away from my side.  Then he suddenly tilts his head back, and just as fast sticks his face in mine and smooches my nose.  Asher, who loves to be sung to- when I finish one song he whispers 'me' which is what he says for 'more'- all with his arm still locked around my neck.  I would sing you 1,000 songs if you wanted sweet boy!  

This is the best.  Even as young as they are, eventhough they can't yet tell us 'I love you mommy, I love you dada' they let us know how they feel.  This is as good as I can imagine it getting- I cherish these moments because I know they will continue to grow so fast and soon it will all be a blur.  I hope I always remember these moments on this trip with our sweet, innocent kids who still see the world as simply wonderful.  Nothing about them is jaded - they are just pure and perfect.  Thank you Lord for these miracles that you have seen fit to bless us with!
